Who We Are
The Broken Body of Christ website and petition have come about as a result of the grave concerns about the current ‘crisis’ in the Church by many lay Catholics who are trying to be faithful to Christ and His Church and are striving for personal holiness in the struggles of their daily lives.
We are deeply upset at the sexual abuse scandals and cover-ups that have been exposed recently. Even though we know many of them happened decades ago, the irreparable harm that has been done to the victims and the Church is overwhelming. Archbishop Vigano’s testimony was the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’. It has invigorated and infuriated us.
We as Catholic lay people want and need to know the truth. There is and has been too much corruption, rot, scandal and sin in our beloved Catholic Church. Only a full, open, independent, and impartial investigation and reporting into the sexual abuse scandals and cover-ups and all of Archbishop Vigano’s allegations will satisfy us. We implore those in positions of leadership to help expose and cleanse darkened areas of our Church that she will once again be a bright example of holiness for us.
The ‘Bride of Christ’ can no longer be kept ‘soiled and in the dark’. The Light of Christ must be allowed to ‘shine in the darkness’ and reveal the whole Truth. This will not be comfortable but will help prepare the, ‘Bride for the marriage to the Lamb’.
All of those who sign this petition are taking a significant risk. We are trusting that we will not be ‘put to shame’, but our persistence (see Lk 11:8) and love for the Church will help the Body of Christ be brought to ‘the fullness of charity’.
In Jesus and Mary.
